WHEN THE HAIR GROWS #1
I began to work on my first hair series ‘When the Hair Grows’ as a part of my Master’s thesis at The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. Project started as an exploration in texture and color, in which I focused on hair as an object within a still life or a sculpture.
In the past, we grew hair mostly for protection - like any other animal. Nowadays, particular haircut denotes particular social affiliation, and is a way of expression more than protection. Haircut is therefore a sign of cultural affiliation, while uncombed and blowzy.
Project was shown during Photo Festival in Arles / France

Extra City Kunsthal in Antwerp / Belgium
Photomonth Festival in Cracow / Poland
alonside with several publications.
